Maitreya Buddha

Spiritual Teacher | Author | Guide to Self-Realization

Maitreya

Maitreya is a spiritual teacher, author, and devoted explorer of consciousness whose life's work is dedicated to awakening humanity to a deeper understanding of existence and the true nature of the Self. Drawing upon decades of personal exploration, spiritual initiation, and the wisdom of extraordinary teachers, she offers a perspective that transcends religious boundaries, cultural traditions, and conventional beliefs. At the heart of her teachings is a simple yet profound understanding: the truth we seek is not something we must become, but something we have never ceased to be.

Maitreya's approach to spiritual awakening is refreshingly direct, deeply compassionate, and often filled with humour. She brings ancient wisdom into the modern world in a way that is accessible, practical, and relevant to everyday life. Through her teachings, workshops, retreats, and personal encounters, she invites people to question the limitations of conditioned thinking, recognize the illusions that shape their experience, and discover the extraordinary freedom that comes from knowing themselves beyond the stories of the mind.

Rather than asking others to adopt a particular philosophy or belief system, Maitreya encourages direct experience and personal discovery. Her teachings explore the nature of consciousness, the construction of the ego, the mysteries of existence, and the fundamental unity underlying all life. She draws connections between timeless spiritual traditions, human psychology, and contemporary understandings of the mind, revealing how seemingly complex spiritual principles can become remarkably simple when understood through lived experience.

What distinguishes Maitreya's work is her ability to meet people exactly where they are. Whether speaking to a room filled with experienced spiritual seekers or someone encountering these ideas for the first time, she creates an atmosphere of openness, curiosity, warmth, and genuine connection. Her teaching style is spontaneous and engaging, moving naturally between profound insights, practical understanding, and moments of unexpected laughter. She recognizes that awakening is not reserved for a chosen few, nor does it require withdrawing from the world. It is available within the ordinary circumstances of human life.

For Maitreya, spiritual realization is not about becoming superior, acquiring extraordinary abilities, or escaping the human experience. It is about seeing clearly, living freely, and recognizing the inseparable connection between oneself and all existence. Her work reflects a deep commitment to alleviating human suffering and helping others discover the peace, joy, and freedom that arise when the struggle to become something more finally comes to an end.

Maitreya's message is ultimately one of remembrance: that beneath everything we have been taught to believe about ourselves lies a truth that has never been absent. Awakening is simply the recognition of what has always been here.

Life is a journey
of looking inside for everything.

Three commitments that shape every session

I

Direct pointing, not instruction.

Concepts give the mind more material to defend. Pointing invites the awareness already present to recognise itself, in real time, before the next thought forms. The first reinforces the constructed self. The second interrupts it. I am only interested in the second.

II

No tradition required.

What I point to is not a path. It is the awareness that has always been present beneath every path, every tradition, every belief, and every doubt. Buddhist, Christian, atheist, undecided — the credentials don't matter. The only qualification is the willingness to look honestly at what is already here.

III

Insight must reach the body.

Recognition that doesn't reach the nervous system is not yet realisation. Liberation has to land in the actual mechanism — the body that braces, the breath that shortens, the patterns that fire before thought. Without that integration, what looks like awakening is a performance the constructed self has learned to give. With it, the work becomes lived.

★ How Maitreya Helps

How Maitreya Helps

Whatever you've been carrying, you don't have to figure it out alone. Maitreya works with people on the things that actually keep them up at night — the patterns, the pain, the questions you're tired of asking. Real change, in plain language.

◯

Emotional Patterns

Anxiety · depression · anger · fear · grief · stress. Learn how to stop fighting these feelings and find a calmer ground beneath them — without forcing yourself to be anyone other than who you are.

✦

Behavioural Patterns

Addiction recovery · attachment · working with desire. The patterns that have run your life don't have to keep running it. Honest work that actually shifts something — not just understanding, but freedom.

◊

Relational Patterns

Relationship healing · bullying recovery · communication. Repair what's been broken. Set boundaries that finally hold. Speak up without losing yourself in the conversation.

⚭

Life Direction

Confidence · personal excellence · manifestation · abundance. Build a life from a place of trust rather than fear — and watch what becomes possible when you stop trying to convince yourself you're enough.

○

Inner Work

Forgiveness · gratitude · dream work · mindfulness · body acceptance. Small daily shifts that, over time, change the entire texture of your life. The quiet work that actually changes things.

✧

Spiritual Work

Awakening · liberation · self-inquiry · presence. The deeper questions — who am I really, what's underneath this life — explored honestly with someone who's walked the path and can guide you home.

The Wheel of Dharma
Learning from Tibetan Buddhist Traditions
“Different traditions may use different teachings, but they often lead us toward the same understanding of who we really are.”
Maitreya | Reflections on Her Time in Dharamsala, India

Spending time studying with Tibetan Buddhist monks in Dharamsala was a meaningful experience for me. It gave me an opportunity to explore teachings that have been passed down for centuries and discover how closely they aligned with what I had already come to understand through my own spiritual journey.

What stood out most was how different traditions can use completely different language and practices yet arrive at remarkably similar insights about consciousness, the mind, and the nature of reality.

I didn’t leave Dharamsala feeling that I had discovered something entirely new. Instead, the experience strengthened my understanding that truth doesn’t belong to any one religion, teacher, or tradition. There are many ways to explore it, but ultimately, what matters is discovering it for yourself.

“A good teacher doesn’t ask you to follow them. They encourage you to question, explore, and discover the truth for yourself.”

For me, spirituality has never been about following a guru, adopting a belief system, or placing anyone on a pedestal. Teachers and teachings can offer valuable guidance, but ultimately, the journey of self-discovery is something each of us must experience for ourselves. The purpose of a teacher is not to create followers, but to help people recognize their own capacity for understanding, awareness, and freedom.

I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, surrounded by the mountains, forests, and ocean that continually remind me of the beauty and simplicity of life. My interests extend well beyond traditional spirituality. I enjoy exploring psychology, neuroscience, human behaviour, philosophy, and ancient wisdom, particularly where these different fields offer insights into the nature of the mind and human experience. I believe there is tremendous value in bringing together modern scientific understanding and the practical wisdom found in spiritual traditions.

Over the years, I’ve also come to appreciate that some of our greatest lessons come not from books, retreats, or spiritual practices, but from everyday life and the people we share it with. Friendships, relationships, challenges, disagreements, and even our mistakes can teach us a great deal about ourselves. For me, genuine spiritual understanding is reflected in how we live, how we treat others, and how we respond when life doesn’t go according to plan.

People who attend my workshops or spend time with me are often surprised by how relaxed and down-to-earth my approach is. I don’t believe spiritual awakening requires special clothing, elaborate rituals, or creating an image of being more enlightened than anyone else. Some of the most remarkable teachers I’ve encountered have been incredibly humble, approachable, and ordinary in the way they live.

My intention is to make spiritual understanding accessible, practical, and relevant to real life. I enjoy meaningful conversations, asking questions, challenging old assumptions, and sharing a good laugh along the way. There is no need to make spirituality mysterious or complicated.

Ultimately, the value of any teaching isn’t measured by how impressive it sounds, but by whether it helps you live with greater clarity, compassion, freedom, and peace.

What students actually say

"I came looking for techniques. What I found was the end of the seeker entirely. Something I cannot name opened, and it has not closed."

Sarah M. — Portland

"Maitreya doesn't teach you anything new. She strips away everything false until what remains is so obvious you wonder how you missed it."

James T. — London

"I have sat with many teachers. None have pointed with the combination of precision and compassion that Maitreya brings. She sees through you — not to diminish you, but to show you what you actually are."

Daniel K. — Berlin

"What changed was not my circumstances. What changed was the one who was suffering about the circumstances. That shift has made everything else workable."

Priya N. — Singapore

"I came expecting someone spiritual and distant. I found someone completely human who happens to be completely awake. That combination changed everything for me."

Ana R. — São Paulo

"I was a philosopher by training. I came expecting to find something I could argue with. I found something I couldn't argue with at all — because it was already more real than any argument."

Marcus W. — Sydney
